Guiding the Dance : The Art of the Tango DJ

A good tango DJ doesn’t just play music—they shape the energy of the dance floor. In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how to read the room and choose the right track at the right time. You’ll discover how memory, organization, and sequencing combine to turn a playlist into a true dance experience. We’ll finish with hands-on exercises: building tandas, curating selections, and critiquing musical flow.

No prerequisites — everyone is welcome, from curious novices to seasoned DJs. Limited to 16 participants.

To benefit the most from the hands-on experience, participants are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop and their own music collection.

Ramu is one of the most knowledgeable and sought after tango DJ’s in the US. Over the past 25 years, he has DJd at countless events – milongas, festivals and marathons – all over the US, in Argentina, Australia, Canada, and India.

For the last 14+ years, he has been the host and resident DJ at Milonga Zandunga, one of DC’s popular weekly milongas, known for it’s outstanding music.
