Tango for Parkinson's

Our Older Adult Outreach Manager S. Alexandra Russell presented the science behind Adapted Tango for Parkinson’s at Tango Bar at Chacho’s educational happy hour on Thursday, August 8.

Based on her recent training with Dr. Madeleine Hackney for the Tango Therapy Project in Philadelphia, Alex explained brain function and movement, the effects of normal aging, and how Parkinson’s disease impairs movement. The talk drew a big crowd and sparked a lot of interest in bringing the project to DC.

Huge thanks to Lauren Hines for inviting us! For more information about the Adapted Tango project, email us.

This Tango Mercurio event was supported by a grant of the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities.
