Level 1 - Tango Initiation
Our most popular gateway to tango!

This 6-week progressive series is a fun, hands-on way to explore the fundamentals of tango. You’ll develop balance, posture, connection, musicality, and technique—all while learning to improvise naturally with a partner.

Class vocabulary includes the tango walk, cunitas (rock steps), the follower’s cross, back ochos, the ocho cortado, key navigational tools, and introductory adornments.

We encourage the study of both roles, role-switching, and dancing with a variety of partners. (Staying with one partner is also welcome).

No partner required. Registration is required.

For an even faster learning curve and to build a stronger foundation, many students pair this series with our weekend bootcamp (October 17–18).

Level 2/3 - Tango Turns

When the Going gets Tough, the Tough get Turning!

Turns are the most useful "tools" for navigating crowded dance floors. In this series, we will develop a good grasp of technique (theory, timing) for "giros" and "molinettes". We will work together to explore the subtleties and changes of dynamic to achieve smooth, powerful and effortless turns.

The tango embrace has many positions, each presenting a myriad of possibilities for the dance.

In this workshop, we will explore the techniques of rolling and dissociation - the two most essential components for achieving a dynamic & comfortable connection in the tango embrace.

We'll then use these same techniques for an in-depth exploration of alterations (aka "changes of direction") - opening up new possibilities for fluid flowing turns in the line of dance and improvisation in tight spaces."

Class vocabulary includes the tango “walk”, cunitas (rock steps), the follower’s cross, back ochos, basic navigational tools and introductory level adornments.

Focusing on the essential elements of Argentine tango in both parallel and cross systems, this course develops mastery, improvisation, navigation, and musicality—key skills for adapting to different partners, music, and crowded dance floors.

Participants will refine their understanding of tango fundamentals, expand their vocabulary in parallel and cross systems, learn clockwise and counter-clockwise turns, and explore the varied textures of the ocho cortado.
