If you work for a local organization and would like to include tango as a program or as part of an event, please write to Dima Berk at

Public Outreach

Mercurio collaborates with other local arts and cultural organizations to share the tango tradition in public spaces and in support of social causes.

We believe that the arts are an essential building block of a balanced, peaceful, and powerful society and recognize that when people have the opportunity to see or try dance, they are often inspired to make it a part of their lives. Some of the events through which we offer introductory tango classes and performances free to the public include:

Dance Is The Answer, a 10-day celebration of National Dance Week sponsored by Dance/USA and Dance/MetroDC featuring workshops, performances, and demonstrations of all genres of dance. April/May

Dance DC Festival, a weekend of folk and traditional dance classes and performances by local artists. August/September

Fiesta DC, a weekend of latin dance, art, food, and music in the Mt. Pleasant neighboorhood. September

Artomatic, a unique DC project in the form of a month-long exhibit of all forms of visual and performing art. June/July

During the 08-09 season we also supported the efforts of the Junior League of Washington, Goodwill of Greater Washington, Kidsave International, and Dakshina/Daniel Singh & Company by donating tango performances and classes.
